    General introduction:A perfect Gaussian laser beam is usually characterized by the divergence parameter of the beam. Divergence refers to the spread of light waves at a certain angle during their spatial propagation. Even perfect rays without any anomalies experience some beam divergence due to diffraction effects. Diffraction is the bending effect of light when it is cut by an opaque object. Spreading results from secondary wavefront arrays emanating from the cut edges. These secondary waves will interfere with the main wave, and at the same time, they will also interfere with each other, forming complex diffraction patterns at some point. Diffraction makes perfectly collimated beams impossible, or the inability to focus the beam to an infinitesimal point. But the effect of diffraction can be calculated, so there are theories that predict how well the beam will be collimated and the spot size for any diffraction-limited lens.

For laser processing, only by adjusting the beam expander to make the laser beam become a collimated (parallel) beam, can a small high-power density light spot be obtained by using the focusing mirror; In laser ranging, the collimation of the laser must be maximized by the beam expander to obtain the ideal long-distance measurement effect; the beam diameter can be changed by the beam expander to be used for different optical instruments; the beam expander can be used with space The use of filters can make the asymmetric beam distribution into a symmetrical distribution and make the light energy distribution more uniform.

    1.Folding Galileo Beam Expanders:
    The most common type of beam expander originates from Galilean telescopes and usually consists of an input concave lens and an output convex lens. The input mirror transmits a virtual focal length beam to the output mirror. The general low-magnification beam expander is manufactured by this principle, because it is simple, small in size and low in price. Generally, it is designed to be as small as possible with spherical aberration, low wavefront distortion and achromatic. Its limitation is that it cannot accommodate spatial filtering or beam expansion with large magnifications.
    2.Folding Kepler Beam Expanders:

    In fact, Kepler-designed telescopes are generally used when spatial filtering or large-magnification beam expansion is required. Kepler telescopes generally have a convex lens as the input mirror, which sends a focused beam of true focal length to the output element. Additionally, spatial filtering can be achieved by placing a pinhole at the focal point of the first lens.
